This 200-hour yoga teacher training is for anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of yoga. Completing this course will also qualify you to register with the Yoga Alliance. The only pre-requisite for this program is a sincere desire to learn and practice the 8-limbs of yoga.

Shala means a school.  This yoga training is open to anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of yoga.  Completing this course will also qualify you to register as a 200-hour level teacher with the Yoga Alliance.  The only pre-requisite for this program is a sincere desire to learn and practice the 8-limbs of yoga. 

In this 3 month Yoga Intensive, you will receive:

  • 3 Months of Unlimited Yoga Classes at UpDog
  • Anatomy Intensive with Michael Rice
  • An Introduction to Ayurveda with Paul Dugliss M.D. 
  • Restorative Yoga Training with Saraswati
  • Communication Skills for the 4 Different Types of Learners with Jen Davidson
  • A Course on Pranayama and Meditation  
  • Verse by Verse Teaching on the Yoga Sutra, the Mother Text of All Yoga Traditions
  • An Introduction to Sanskrit
  • The Art of Hands-On Assistance 
  • Modifications for Pregnancy, Injuries, and Other Special Needs
  • The Skills to Teach Ashtanga, Basic, Vinyasa, Restorative/Yin, and Tibetan Heart Yoga Classes.
  • 3 Extra Make-up Sessions in 2009 in Case You Can’t Make All the Classes

Michael Johnson is part of an unbroken lineage that traces back to its ancient origins in India and Tibet. He has lived and studied with Sri Swami Satchidananda, traveled to India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, completed Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training with Sharon Gannon and David Life, and travels to internationally to study with Geshe Michael Roach and Christie McNally. He also studies the Tantric teachings of Buddhism at Diamond Mountain University with Kimberly Veenhof, director of the Yoga Studies Institute. He has been given the blessing to pass this lineage on to you, so that you can carry on the tradition of yoga in North America, as a fast-acting practice to reach enlightenment in this lifetime.

Intensive w/ Michigan’s leading anatomy instructor, Michael Rice.
Restorative yoga training with Saraswati.
An exploration of modifications for people with special needs.
A deeper view of yoga therapy, alignment, and hands-on assistance.
Cultivating a long-term approach to daily asana and meditation practice.
Posture sequencing for the different seasons.
Breakdown of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Teaching about diet, inversions, and lifestyle choices for optimal health.

All 3 Modules can be taken in any order.  After completing all 3 you can register with the Yoga Alliance as a 500-hour level yoga teacher.
